Hey friends!
Happy Friday!
I made it through my first week back of full time work/grad school. (Those of you in the country/world who don’t start your academic year until September, I shake my fist at you in jealousy! So jealous.)
Naturally, I am celebrating today! So for our Happy Hour post we’re looking at one of my new favorite cosmetics companies and their eye shadows.
So let’s kick off Happy Hour!
Disclaimer:You better be 21 and up if you are reading the beer portion of this post, and please enjoy your booze and makeup, responsibly.
Makeup Product of the Week, ColourPop Cosmetics’, Super Shock Eye Shadow, $5

$5 each, and free shipping with a $30 order. Basically you have to order 6 of them. It’s just mathematically right.
I was going to pick one color for you and then decided, it’s rude to pick favorites.
So first, I have to warn you. These are complete glitter bombs. If you don’t love glitter, they are not for you. But you know…
I. Love. Glitter.
These eye shadows are $5 each. They have a bouncy, gel like consistency, which their fancy little plastic jar keeps safe from drying out. I wear them over primer and they last forever, no pigmentation lost throughout the day. I use my finger to apply, but I’ve also used a synthetic brush with no problems. I’ve also used a fluffier brush and blended out for a softer look.
I highly suggest putting on your foundation and concealer AFTER you put these shades on. You might have some glitter fall out during application to clean up. Or at least if you’re heavy handed like me.
The whole reason I got into this company was I was trying to find a cruelty-free alternative to my favorite L’Oreal Infallible Eye Shadow in Amber Rush. Amaze looked like it would be a good dupe. (Did I mention they’re cruelty-free? Oh, yes. More bonus points.)
While Amaze turned out to be a bit lighter than Amber Rush, it doesn’t matter. I have completely fallen down the rabbit hole with this company. They’ve basically designed a product that’s like baseball cards to makeup hoarders enthusiasts. I want to collect all their shades. Gotta catch them all!
And they released their Fall Shades two days after my initial order. Ughh. Just take all my money, ColourPop. Take it!
Overall, if you love glitter, cruelty-free products, and $5 eye shadow, go order them now. I’ll still be here. Those Fall shades look like they are going to make my transition back to work so much less painful.
Beer of the Week: Maui Brewing Co.’s Coconut Porter
Since we’re going back to school this week, I decided to try a darker beer. Don’t worry if you are afraid of Porters this one is pretty tasty, and I promise to bring you something lighter next week.
This Coconut Porter is brewed in Maui, Hawaii and has a lot of interesting flavor notes. It smells like coconut, but the taste has hints of coffee and chocolate with a light coconut finish.
I’m not going to lie to you, it has a rich Porter taste, that is to say, it’s not a light beer. If you don’t love dark beers, strong flavors, or coffee, this probably isn’t going to be up your alley.
However, I think it’s a great transitional beer. The coffee and coconut flavors keep it from being too Fall flavored. And 6.0% ABV is not going to get you crunk while you study or do work during this back to school season.
I would actually recommend drinking this as dessert, but if you want to pair it with food think of it as your after dinner coffee. It’s going to be delicious with a rich sweet dessert, like chocolate cake or tiramisu.
Questions of the Day
-Are you back at school/work? How’s it going?
-Do you have a type of makeup product you love hoarding collecting?
-Have you ever had beer for dessert?
Happy weekend guys!
I’ll be back on Monday with more cheap tricks and budget tips!
