Um, I’m kinda over being back to work/grad school. I actually fell asleep in the bathtub, I was so exhausted.Next week will get easier, but for tonight I’m curling up in my pajamas with a good beer.
And a good concealer. Because holy hell, I’ve needed to conceal my dark circles and puffiness this week like it’s my job. (Waking up when it is still dark outside is unnatural. Just FYI.)
So whether you’re about to head out and party this weekend, studying and doing school work, or you are going to be joining me in hibernation, you’ll love both Benefit’s Confessions of a Concealaholic and Dogfish’s Head Namaste.
Disclaimer: You better be 21 and up if you are reading the beer portion of this post, and please enjoy your booze and makeup, responsibly.
Makeup Product of the Week: Benefit’s Confessions of a Concealaholic
Today’s Happy Hour is featuring a little goody I picked up at Benefit’s SALE-abration. I’ve had my eye on the Confessions of a Concealaholic for awhile, but when they cut the price down from $36 to $28 and offered Free Shipping, I was ON IT.
(PS: I tweet about sales, deals, beer, and glitter all the time, so follow me on Twitter! Shameless plug: @BeerBudgetBeaut)
I’ve been wanting to try some of Benefit’s face makeup for awhile, but not wanting to spend $20-$30 and find out I hate it or it makes me breakout. This palette works perfectly for me because I can sample 5 of their products while paying a much lower price.
And just in case you didn’t see it close enough:
“That Gal” Primer- This is my least favorite product in the palette, because I feel like it’s kind of a useless primer. It doesn’t smooth out my skin or help my makeup stay.
Erase Paste- My favorite! This gets a mixed reviews on the internet, but I actually liked it for dark circles. The orange-ish tint helped cancel out the lovely bruised look I had going on.
Boing 1 and Boing 2- Pretty good coverage, lasts a while, and I like to mix the two to cover different areas on my face. (I guess I have a lot of weird tones going on. Oops?)
Eye Bright- This little cream is great for brightening up your inner eye. I don’t know if I would pay the full price for it, but I’m glad I get to try it out!
Lemon-Aid- Also good for under-eye circles. There’s a little instructional booklet that comes with the palette and it recommends using this as an eye primer. But since my week was so rough I just used it to make myself look less like the walking dead by smearing it under my eyes.
To buy all these products individually would cost me around $100, but getting this cute little palette for $28 was a steal.
So if you’re struggling with Back to School Transition Pain, (I just made up a new disease), I highly recommend Confessions of a Concealaholic to help you look more awake and less like an exhausted zombie.
Beer of the Week: Dogfish Head Namaste
I didn’t want to scare any of my beginning beer drinkers with another dark beer this week, and to be honest it’s so ridiculously hot where I live, so I was feeling a light beer this week.
When I think of Dogfish Head, the first thing that comes to mind is their amazing 60 Minute and 90 Minute IPAs. However, when I saw their Witbier, a kind of white beer at my grocery store, I thought it would be interesting to peruse some of their lighter offerings.
This is a great beer for someone who wants their beers to be light and mellow. It’s only 4.5% ABV, and with very subtle citrus notes, it’s perfect for people wanting to venture into craft beer, without gettin’ crazy. It’s also perfect for people who want to sit on their porch, sipping beer and pretending their summer is not over. So. All around, it should be a hit.
Since Namaste is drinkable and crisp, it could easily pair with most light meals like chicken, mussels, salmon or even salads. I personally think it would go great with a picnic spread, and a delicious creamy cheese. (Beer and cheese are pretty much always a pairing in my book.)
That’s it for me. I’m basically planning to sleep all weekend, so if you don’t hear from me, I hope you guys all have a fantastic (3 day) weekend!
I’ll be back on Monday with a review of my new favorite indie cosmetics company, some budget fall makeup products, and more!
