3 Fall Beauty Trends on a Budget

Hey friends!

Although it’s a million degrees outside where I live, I love fall colors. Grad school and work are keeping me super busy so I feel like I need to start preparing my fall stash, or it’s all going to pass me by.

I was particularly inspired by Self Magazine’s Fresh for Fall Trends in their September issue. However, I wasn’t feeling like paying $34 for each makeup item.

And you know how I roll. So here are some of my favorite fall trends, on a budget!

Fall Beauty on a Budget

 Fall Trend: Bold Brows

I like this trend because I can let my brows be free. Or at least that’s how I interpret it because I’m lazy.(Also I have very sparse eyebrows, so being free is not exactly that exciting.)

However, should you be craving control of your bold brows, I enjoy these budget products.

NYX Brow Gel, $7

NYX Eyebrow Gel

This stuff does not play. It sets very quickly and is very pigmented, so a little bit goes a long way. That being said, a bit of practice and you will have perfect arches that last a long time. I personally use Brunette, which works well for my lighter brows.

Sonia Kashuk, Eyebrow Gel, $6

This is my go-to eyebrow product that I mentioned here, because it’s fast and easy to use. I have had some issues with the product drying quickly, so make sure you screw the lid on tight.

e.l.f. Eyebrow Kit, $3

e.l.f. Eyebrow Kit

e.l.f. products can be hit or miss for me, but I really enjoy this eyebrow kit, especially with the $3 price. The wax and brow powder are useful for getting the perfect, long-lasting brow. I use Light, Medium is just a bit too dark for my lighter brows.

Fall Trend:Natural Flush

A lot of the articles I’ve been reading on Fall/Winter Beauty are predicting barely-there face makeup will be trendy this season. I’ve always been partial to a natural flush because I think it makes my cheeks stand out without looking like I tried to hard. (Which I do, because I am super heavy-handed with blush.)

Self Magazine recommends a hot pink for warms tones and a peach blush for cool tones, so I collected my favorite drugstore blushes to help you recreate this look.

Hot Pinks

e.l.f. Powder Blush in Fuchsia Fusion, $3

I’ve mentioned before that the e.l.f. Studio Blushes are not actually my favorite, I think they are very hit or miss. That being said, this Fuchsia Fusion is a fairly pigmented hot pink that could work with this season’s natural flush trend.

Milani’s Baked Blush in Delizioso, $8

This blush by Milani is a super pigmented, super hot pink addition. I love the Milani baked blushes, and true to form this one last for hours for a beautiful pink flush.

WetnWild Blush in Heather Silk, $3.

This blush is more of a softer pink than hot pink, but for $3 I think it’s a great deal. The color is very pigmented and easy to blend, which helps in getting that flushed look.

Peaches

NYX Summer Peach, $5

NYX Summer Peach, looks very coral in this picture, but comes off peachier in person.

I’ve stated before, I love the NYX Powder Blushes, for their pigmentation and price, and this color is no exception. It’s a beautiful peachy color with a hint of shimmer that can easily be blended.

Milani Blush in Luminoso, $8

I’m actually wearing this blush in the video I made last week. It has a great peachy color, and a little bit goes a long way.

Fall Trend: Berry Lips

Berry lips are my favorite thing about fall. (I don’t like Pumpkin Lattes, sorry.) I’ve been working on this collection for quite a while, and I’m excited to finally be able to bust some berry lips out. I tried to pick several varieties of texture and shade, so there should be something for everyone here.

Revlon Colorbust Balm Stain in Smitten and Crush, $7.

We all know I love the Revlon Colorburst Lipstains because they last forever. These beautiful berry shades are no exception. They are pigmented, not drying, and leave a lovely stain behind.

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Prauge, $5

I don’t talk about these bad boys a lot, but I do really like the soft matte lip creams. They smell amazing and the colors are beautiful, Prague is especially delightful for fall. My only warning with these, is I do find them a bit drying and they feather a bit as they wear out. That being said, they will still be pretty for fall.

NYX Butter Lipstick in Hunk, $6

What’s not to love about the Butter Lipstick line? They’re creamy, pigmented, and long lasting. Hunk is the perfect purply-berry shade for fall.

Wet n’Wild, Limited Edition Matte Lipsticks in Urban Night and Bordeaux Boulevard, $3 each.

Wet n' Wild Limited Edition Fall Matte Lipstick

First, you should know, I hunted without shame for these bad boys, dragging Mr. Danger to about 3 different Walgreens. I found the Limited Edition nail polishes and eye shadows but had no luck with the lipsticks.

One day, I had given up and was randomly perusing the Wet n’ Wild Fergie display, (don’t judge, please), and I found ALL four shades hiding among the regular line. Very tricky, Walgreens!

Anyway, Urban Night and Bordeaux Boulevard are lovely berry shades learning towards a reddish berry and plummy purple, respectively. Just a warning the Bordeaux shade is pretty vampy, so if that’s not your bag, stick with Urban Night. At $3 these pretty colors are a steal.

That’s my take on some of the fall trends coming out. Hopefully you can save some money with these guys and still have enough left over for that pumpkin latte. Or Pumpkin Beer if you’re me.

Questions of the Day:
What are your favorite fall trends?
Have you ever hunted makeup before? Did you find it in a Fergie display?
Do you like Pumpkin Spice Lattes?

Love,

Rebs!

This is the second place in 2 days I have seen Milani blush and heard it’s amazing – I have never heard of it before!! I’m going to put it on my must try list!!

  2. 1. I agree with you- one of my favorite fall trends is berry lips. Dark lips in general, actually. I only wish I had the courage to wear darker shades every day.

    2. I hunt makeup all the time, but I can’t say I’ve ever found anything in the Fergie display. I hate when things are all mixed up at the drugstore, though!

    3. I heart pumpkin spice lattes (or pumpkin flavored coffee beverages in general). I try not to drink them so much because of all the sugar! Sigh…

    • I can’t rock those vampy shades in my everyday life (work/grad school), but even on the weekends I’m afraid I look more goth than fashion-forward. I think it’s all about the confidence to pull it off.

Haha, when I found them in the Fergie display I was thinking, “Do they not know how precious these are?! They just throw them in the Fergie display?!” But I’m kinda weird.

I do love pumpkin foods, I just think they pumpkin lattes are too sweet. I’m the person that things the darker and stronger coffee is, the better.

      Thanks for stopping by!

    • Hey Lauren!
Thanks! I love fall colors, so I had a lot of fun testing these out. The Wet N’ Wild are a little dark for work, but on the weekends I’ve been wearing Urban Night out, and I’ve gotten several compliments.

      Thanks for stopping by!
