Hey friends!
How’s it going? Since Spring has finally arrived I’ve been wanting to wear lighter scents to fit the warmer, (and more humid, where I live) weather. Enter Solstice Scent’s The Night Collection that Mr. Danger originally gave me for Christmas wayyyyy back in December. Yes, I have so many perfumes, it takes me that long to review things.
The Night Collection is all based around Solstice Scents’ original Edge of the Night perfume, and has every variation of perfume scent style from foodie to aquatic. It’s a little bit of something for everyone.
Check out if any of these could work for you!
Good to Know Information:
Solstice Scents is a well established indie perfume company based out of Florida, and run by a couple. The Night Collection is part of their general catalog, but they also offer many seasonal releases and limited editions throughout the year.
The customer service aspect of Solstice Scents is one of the best I’ve seen out of any indie company. Most orders are shipped within a day or two of being placed, and they also have a reward point system in place for every order. You also get to choose your free sample with every order!
Sample sets are available for every collection, (and as packs where you can choose what you want). The Night Collection sample set is currently available for $17. Full sizes cost about $15, and come in a blue cobalt roller.
Good Smells Information:
Edge of the Night- Black Vanilla, Soft Spices, Red Musk, Chypre Base
This is the original perfume that inspired the entire collection. This smells spicy and sweet, with a bit of a musky mysterious base to it. As it dries, I get a bit of the vanilla, but to me I mostly get sensual spiciness. I would definitely put this on for a night out, or a romantic dinner. This lasted about 6 hours on me.
Fires in the Night- Sandalwood, Ginger, Clove, Orange, Amber, Wood Smoke, Cinnamon, Patchouli, Edge of the Night Base
At first the wood smoke is the strongest note here, it smells like cinnamon and oranges on fire. As it mellows out, the ginger, clove and orange becomes stronger, but the smoky wood note remains, like the oranges are being roasted over a fire. Overall, this is a fiery, spicy blend, and I enjoy the citrus notes in the background. This lasted about 6 hours on me.
Heart of the Night–Moroccan Rose absolute, Bulgarian Rose absolute, Sugar, Chocolate, Vanilla, Edge of the Night Base
On application, the first scent I get is chocolate, and I really adore Solstice Scent’s chocolate note. It’s rich and creamy without being cloying. As it dries, the rose notes come out, but they’re very subtle, just a hint of rose. This definitely leans more foodie to me, than floral. I really enjoy this mixture of rose and chocolate, it’s a perfect romantic gourmand scent. This lasted about 4 hours on me.
Heat of the Night-Vanilla, Mango, Coconut, Orange, Sandalwood, Amber, Orange Blossom, Edge of the Night Base
This is very citrusy and zesty on first application. The coconut and softer notes like the amber and orange blossom start to emerge as it dries. When it all comes together, it smells very tropical, like a delicious fruit drink on a beautiful island. The overall effect makes me want to wear this perfume on a hot summer night, it’s sensual and sultry. This one lasts about 5 hours on me.
Shadows in the Night–White Amber, Fir, Somalian Frankincense, Elemi, Bayberry, Spruce, Amber, Peppermint, A Puff Of Incense, Edge of the Night Base
Hmm, I’m kinda getting that man deodorant scent that’s common with me and bayberry/spruce scents. However, I think the amber and peppermint keep this more in the cool notes zone, rather than full on deodorant. This is very clean, fresh and woodsy scent. And I’m imagining a sexy forest dude. Because those exist. This lasted about 4 hours on me.
Whispers in the Night-Jasmine, Tuberose, Vanilla Orchid, Coconut, White Amber, Sandalwood, Amber & Ylang Ylang on a base of Edge of the Night
So Jasmine and I are not friends. I want to be friends, it sound so lovely in theory, and to be honest, Solstice Scents’ Jasmine note is downright pleasant on my skin compared to others. But mostly Jasmine smells like weird bad breath on my skin, and on a good day, it just smells like dirty flowers on a cool night. Whispers in the Night is a good day, and this smells like dirt, soft florals, and cool air on my skin. It’s actually not bad, but I can smell the Jasmine sneaking up and trying to be all indolent on my skin. BOO, Jasmine. This lasted about 6 hours on my skin because Jasmine loves me!
Overall:
These are all very sensual and interesting, I really enjoyed trying them all. I would strongly recommend if you want to try out some of the Night Collection to just buy a sample pack, because I think it’s really fun to see the different variations of Edge of the Night. Most of these lasted 4-6 hours, which on my skin is downright awesome, so that’s also a plus.
My favorites here are Edge of the Night, Heat of the Night, and Heart of the Night. I kinda want Heat of the Night for summer wearing, so we’ll see if I can squeeze that in my perfume budget. (That I never stick to. Good job me!)
Questions of the Day:
-Have you tried the Night Collection?
-What scents are you wearing as the weather warms?
-Do you have a note that your skin hates?
Love,
Rebs!
