8 Spring Beauty Trends: On a Budget!

Hey friends!

It’s been so long since I’ve had time to make a post like this, but since I had a week off of grad school, (my wild Spring Break consisted of blogging and sleeping. #PARTYLIFE), I was able to tackle some of the more challenging posts on my to-do list.

So today we venture back to mainstream drugstore makeup for a look at Spring Trends on a Budget!

Want to try out some of the Spring’s biggest trends but don’t want to shell out $36 dollars for blush? I’ve got you covered.

Check it out!

6 Popular ColourPop Lippie Stix: Review

Hey friends!

My mommy is the coolest and picked up some ColourPop Lippie Stix for me for Christmas! (If you are just joining me, I’m in my late twenties, by the way. I just have a cool mommy.)

She grabbed some of their most popular shades in the Lippie Stix. (I do not like the word, lippie, but Colourpop gets a pass.) Since she’s also a budget-savvy lady, she bought 6 Lippie Stix for $30, (as their $5 each), and got the free shipping! A wise woman, indeed.

I’ve reviewed Colourpop’s Holiday Lipstick Collection, Forget the Fruitcake here, but this is my first time trying on their general shades. I was excited to test some of their best selling lipsticks!

Eye of the Day and Beer of the Day: Week 1

Or EOTD and BOTD.

Hey Friends!

I’ve been working on starting up this little Wednesday feature for awhile now and I think I’m finally ready to go live with it.

(Edit: Apparently I was not ready to go live because this published with no pictures in it. Opps, let’s try this again!)

In a quest to feature more beer and more eye shadow, (two of my favorite things), I thought I would try a weekly feature showcasing a delicious beer and an eye look.

I’m not a master of make up, but I’m hoping the EOTD can help those of you who are wondering, “What the heck is she doing with all those powdered pigments?” (Maybe only Mr. Danger is wondering that, but still). Or maybe I can just help you get some inspiration for your own eye look! Or maybe you just like glitter. I’ll be trying to address all these needs.

In my Happy Hour posts, I usually feature beers that are seasonal or have mass appeal so those new to craft beer might find something they like. These BOTD features are going to be beer reviews of just about anything and everything, so you never know what might show up.

So that’s the plan for these weekly posts. I might play with the format a little as time goes on, but let’s go ahead and roll out Week 1!

Notoriously Morbid’s Vanishing Cabinet: November 2014

Hey friends!

Two posts in one day!? My, I am behind on posting and desperately trying to catch up industrious and productive!

I’ve got a new feature I’m trying out tomorrow, so I was trying to get all my subscription reviews for the month taken care of. Let me tell you, my arms were looking pretty glittery after all those swatches.

Anyway, I always seem to get Notoriously Morbid’s Vanishing Cabinet later in the month and I have to make myself not peak at other people’s reviews, because I like the surprise. However, every month it seems it’s completely worth the wait, because I’ve been super pleased with every VC I’ve gotten from them.

The Vanishing Cabinet costs about $13 a month, and it is a reoccurring subscription. Unfortunately, at this time there is a wait list. However, I believe the Notoriously Morbid owners are going to be opening more spots next month. These ladies have a good thing going on, so I’m not at all surprised by the popularity the Vanishing Cabinet has gained. They usually do have overstocks of some of their VC eye shadows for sale on their website, if you really need to get your hands on a shade.

This month the theme was DeadLove, based on the Sookie Stackhouse books. (Not the show, bless those NM ladies.) I happened to start reading these books when I was but a young, nerdy girl of 15, and they hold a special place in my heart making this months’ VC even more fun.

If you’re curious what kind of items come each month or you just want to drool over some shimmery, gorgeous eye shadow, OR you want to know my opinions on Sookie’s boyfriends, look no further!

Why yes, that is my 2001 copy of the first Sookie book. I'm a nerd, friends.

Happy Hour: 4 Drugstore Matte Lipsticks and Odell Isolation Ale

Hey friends!

I had the grandest plans to finish editing a few posts and have them up this week. Unfortunately, this week then went kind bananas and that didn’t happen. I got home late from work/grad school every night this week and passed out watching Gilmore Girls on Netflix instead. (#PARTYLIFE.) Hence, the radio silence for the past few days.

The good news is I now have a ton of posts for next week and it’s Thanksgiving week, so we’ll pretend I meant to do it. Yeah, I was planning it that way for the holiday week. Sure.

So tonight I’m studying for a big grad school licensure-type test, but I thought I would kick off this weekend with a tasty beer and some pretty drugstore matte lips. (Yes, I wear lipstick when studying. It makes me feel smart, don’t judge.)

Studying and blogging. #PARTYLIFE

I was going for a winter type theme for this picture but somehow it turned into a nativity type theme instead. Oops.

Happy Hour: 3 MLBB Matte Lipsticks and Great Divide’s Hibernation Ale

Hey friends!

It’s super cold where I live!

This is highly unusual this time of year, so I am very excited. It actually feels like fall/winter!

So I abandoned all plans of fall beers, (AKA I drank them before I remembered to photograph them), and I’m jumping straight into winter! For the next month or so I’ll be featuring winter and holiday beers, and eventually a few of my favorite stouts and porters that taste fabulous this time of year.

I’m also trying to feature some makeup products I love during the winter and holiday months, so hopefully all of that will get you into the season.

Also, I’ll plan ahead better so there won’t be creeper owls every Happy Hour. (Spur of the moment idea=creeper owls.) So no worries.

Happy Hour: October Favorites

Hey friends!

Something to know about me: I may not be timely, but I am thorough! For instance, it may be November 7th, but I am determined to do my October Favorites post. Because it will get done, maybe a week late, but, DONE.

It is really a miracle this post is happening at all since I’m supposed to be completely the data analysis for my thesis research. And this is what I have done so far:

My classmates thought this would go well in my Appendix.

My classmates thought this would go well in my Appendix. Also, this is not a cry for help, makeup will save me.

Anyway, my stubbornness is pushing me through! (Also I’ve been bribing myself with makeup, a very effective incentive.)

October flew by very fast, (I still have my Halloween lights up, for example), but I still did manage to buy like 349898 beauty products, so check out the bests of the month below:

Hello Waffle Cosmetics: Part 1

Hey Friends!

So wayyyyy back in August I placed an order with Hello Waffle, and I got the Blogger pack, which has a lovely little discount.

However, I never reviewed it because I immediately realized that I had picked like 5989 purples and my compulsion to have complete sets kicked in.* I knew I was going to have to place an order to get a more varied sampling of Hello Waffle’s shades.

Well, guilt alleviated, I just ordered a ton of eye shadow samples and her Cattsic Literature collection, and it’s been shipped so AIYEEEE.  Now that I know I can properly review her shade selection, I’m going to go ahead and share the first part of my haul.

*All of this is a ruse just to buy more Hello Waffle because she is the bomb.com.

Happy Hour: 7 Budget Rose Gold Shadows and Dogfish Head Punkin

Hey friends!

This will be publishing a little late because someone had to take a nap.

And that someone is me. (I don’t have kids if that’s what you were thinking.)

It’s been one of those weeks. Not a bad week, just the kind of week where you spill coffee on your curtains, clean dog vomit out of your bed, and spill 32 ounces of water in your nightstand, kind of week. We’ve all been there. I think.

Anyway, my best friend is coming in town tonight so it will be all good in the neighborhood.

For this week’s Happy Hour, I wanted to share 7 of my favorite rose gold eye shadows that are all under $8! These shades range from copperish to pinky champagne, but they are all beautiful and cheap.

I’m also switching things up on you and sharing Mr. Danger’s favorite pumpkin beer! Don’t worry, he has good taste.

So let’s keep Happy Hour going all weekend!

Alchemic Muse: Autumn Collection

Hey friends!

If you don’t love indie perfume reviews, (and you should because indie perfumes are where it’s at), you might want to skip this post. No worries, I’ll see you, Friday for Happy Hour, it’s cool.

But if you do want to know about Alchemic Muse’s Autumn Collection, I hope to be of service to you.

In my quest to know everything about indie perfume, I set off to try Alchemic Muse next. I had heard good things and she’s been around several years now, so I felt confident this would be another good stop for a beginner

Indeed, I only meant to order 3 samples from Alchemic Muse’s Autumn Collection, but somehow that 3 samples turned into 9 and a body whip, which cost me about $30 bones with shipping. Ooops. I guess there are worse vices to have than perfume oils.

Without further ado:
