Happy Hour: July Favorites!

Hey friends!

It’s the FINAL COUNTDOWN! I have exactly:
-1 Final
-1 Presentation
-1 Day of Internship and
-2 Class Sessions

AND THEN I AM DONE WITH GRAD SCHOOL FOREVER AND EVER!!!! (And it will be forever, because if I ever go back to higher education it will be for a PhD. I’m not doing this Master’s level BS again. NOPE.)

Anyway, my joy is palpable over here. I’ve been expressing it by resuming a normal sleep schedule and starting to exercise again. I even went to this place called a park, which is apparently an outside area where people who aren’t in grad school go, and I went for a run. It was pretty exciting stuff.

I also decided to write a July Favorites post. I haven’t written in a Favorites post in a while, or any post for that matter, so I figured it might be interesting to share what makeup I’ve used this past month as I fought through my last month of grad school.

ENJOY!

Happy Hour: April Favorites!

Hey friends!

How’s your Friday? Mine is lay down. You heard that right. It’s lay down. That’s a feeling.

So anyway. My April Favorites run the gamut this month. Some of my picks are super professional/conservative products that saved me when I went on my 6 interviews. Some are the more bolder colors and products I used when I needed a pick me up. Really, it’s all over the place.

So check out what I was loving this month!

Happy Hour: March Favorites!

Hey friends!

It’s weird how March was only 12 days long this year. If you tried to convince me there were 30 days this past month, I would probably shake my head sadly for you, because it just didn’t happen. At least that’s how it felt to me.

It was hard to pick out favorite things since this month was only 12 days long, but I managed to create a March Favorites post because I have a duty to my readers. Also because there were a lot of pretty things and good smelling things this month.

So check out what made the favorites cut for the shortest month of the year!

February Favorites!

Hey friends!

I’ve missed you so! How have you been?! Anything exciting happening in your life or the internet? I heard about a dress, but that’s about it. (Grad school turns you into a hermit.)

I finally got through my slightly hellish week of projects and midterms, and I’m feeling pretty good about life! This morning, I finally got to swatch some eye shadow, and let me tell you, putting tape on my skin has never been more satisfying. (TBH, I guess this is not hard to achieve.)

Anyway, while I get caught up with all the lovely pretties coming your way on the blog this week, I’ve got my February Favorites! You know, on March 7th. Not belated or anything.

PS: Did I tell you I missed you all?!

I’m too pleased with myself for making this graphic. Every time I see it, I giggle and think, “Like Oprah.”

Eye of the Day and Beer of the Day: Week 1

Or EOTD and BOTD.

Hey Friends!

I’ve been working on starting up this little Wednesday feature for awhile now and I think I’m finally ready to go live with it.

(Edit: Apparently I was not ready to go live because this published with no pictures in it. Opps, let’s try this again!)

In a quest to feature more beer and more eye shadow, (two of my favorite things), I thought I would try a weekly feature showcasing a delicious beer and an eye look.

I’m not a master of make up, but I’m hoping the EOTD can help those of you who are wondering, “What the heck is she doing with all those powdered pigments?” (Maybe only Mr. Danger is wondering that, but still). Or maybe I can just help you get some inspiration for your own eye look! Or maybe you just like glitter. I’ll be trying to address all these needs.

In my Happy Hour posts, I usually feature beers that are seasonal or have mass appeal so those new to craft beer might find something they like. These BOTD features are going to be beer reviews of just about anything and everything, so you never know what might show up.

So that’s the plan for these weekly posts. I might play with the format a little as time goes on, but let’s go ahead and roll out Week 1!

Happy Hour: 4 Drugstore Matte Lipsticks and Odell Isolation Ale

Hey friends!

I had the grandest plans to finish editing a few posts and have them up this week. Unfortunately, this week then went kind bananas and that didn’t happen. I got home late from work/grad school every night this week and passed out watching Gilmore Girls on Netflix instead. (#PARTYLIFE.) Hence, the radio silence for the past few days.

The good news is I now have a ton of posts for next week and it’s Thanksgiving week, so we’ll pretend I meant to do it. Yeah, I was planning it that way for the holiday week. Sure.

So tonight I’m studying for a big grad school licensure-type test, but I thought I would kick off this weekend with a tasty beer and some pretty drugstore matte lips. (Yes, I wear lipstick when studying. It makes me feel smart, don’t judge.)

Studying and blogging. #PARTYLIFE

I was going for a winter type theme for this picture but somehow it turned into a nativity type theme instead. Oops.

Happy Hour: October Favorites

Hey friends!

Something to know about me: I may not be timely, but I am thorough! For instance, it may be November 7th, but I am determined to do my October Favorites post. Because it will get done, maybe a week late, but, DONE.

It is really a miracle this post is happening at all since I’m supposed to be completely the data analysis for my thesis research. And this is what I have done so far:

My classmates thought this would go well in my Appendix.

My classmates thought this would go well in my Appendix. Also, this is not a cry for help, makeup will save me.

Anyway, my stubbornness is pushing me through! (Also I’ve been bribing myself with makeup, a very effective incentive.)

October flew by very fast, (I still have my Halloween lights up, for example), but I still did manage to buy like 349898 beauty products, so check out the bests of the month below:

Makeup Brushes on a Budget

Hey friends!

Hope your Wednesday finds you well! Things in my little space of the world are bananas as always, but they are also very good.

Today’s topic is not exactly exciting, but it’s fairly essential in the world of makeup. That’s right, I’m here today to speak to you about makeup brushes. (I assume this is not super exciting, but there could be a person out there who adores collecting makeup brushes-who am I to judge.)

However we all need makeup brushes, so I’m here to help you find the best cheap ones. Also I have inserted the free stock photo to below to make this post more glamorous.

Happy Hour: September Favorites

Hi friends!

As this post publishes, I’m practicing walking down an aisle. (AKA I am being a bridesmaid for a lovely friend/roomie from college.) With all the wedding festivities I’m involved in this weekend, I’m trying something new for my monthly favorites post. (AKA I can not make another video until after my I finish my thesis, because that business is time consuming.)

So today I’m sharing a round up of my favorite’s from this past month, some old and some new.

Let me know what you think!

Pampering On a Budget

Hey friends!

I got a message from this universe this past weekend when I got sick (for the third weekend since school/work started again), and it was, “SLOW DOWN AND SLEEP 13+ HOURS”. So I did. And hello! I feel like a person again!

So if you are also finding yourself spread in 67 different directions and injecting espresso into your veins, (ok, it wasn’t that bad, but I was relying on a steady stream of caffeine to exist), then I urge you to take some time for yourself this week.

Maybe just an hour, maybe a whole day. But I feel like in our culture that rewards and encourages busyness and perpetual motion, (for more on the glorification of busyness, check out this article and this one) sometimes it’s awesome to do absolutely nothing.

And I can help you with that! Here are some of my favorite budget products to indulge in when I want to take some time to pamper myself.
