Smelly Yeti Perfumery Part 1: Review of 6 Buffy Scents

Hey friends!

I can’t even tell you where I found out a perfume company called Smelly Yeti existed. (Not that it’s a secret, I just can’t remember.) But let me tell you, I could immediately tell Smelly Yeti was right up my alley, and I was thoroughly convinced to throw down and try out a sample pack.

First, let’s talk about the great design concept. Everything about Smelly Yeti is cheeky and fun. Just check out the fabulously designed website or all the goodies that come in an order, for example. There’s no pretension here, just silliness and snark, and I love it.

Second, the touch to detail that Smelly Yeti gives to each order is super impressive. I got a hand drawn Yeti on my receipt, for example. I also exchanged a few emails with the owner in regards to what perfume she would recommend for my fruit hating skin, and she responded quickly and helped out. This is obviously an owner who is devoted to her brand.

Third, the Buffy theme. Do I really need to explain to you guys that I’ve been a Buffy fan since I was a wee 11 year old. I feel like we’ve already established I am the ulta-nerd.

And the most important! A sample pack is $12 and a full size perfume is $15, not too bad compared with mainstream perfume prices! Especially when I think I found my daily Holy Grail scent.

So for the first part of my review I have 6 scents to review from the Hellmouth Collection:

Colourpop Review: Not A Box of Chocolates

Hey friends!

How’s Cyber Monday treating you? I’m hoping to remain strong through today, but Haus of Gloi is releasing their Yule restock today and that has the possibility to melt my willpower. Must…stick…to…budget….

Speaking of going over budget, I may have treated myself to a “Hey you finished Ch. 4 of your thesis and you only have one chapter left” reward of the Colourpop Holiday Collection, “Not a Box of Chocolates”.

It was only $30 with free shipping, so I guess there could be worse vices?

I’ve written about Colourpop’s eye shadows here and here, so I think we can establish I am a fan. They have a great pigmented, long lasting formula and amazing color selections. When I saw they had released 6 new shades for the holidays in their Not a Box of Chocolates, I was on that!

Check out the new swatches!

Notoriously Morbid’s Vanishing Cabinet: November 2014

Hey friends!

Two posts in one day!? My, I am behind on posting and desperately trying to catch up industrious and productive!

I’ve got a new feature I’m trying out tomorrow, so I was trying to get all my subscription reviews for the month taken care of. Let me tell you, my arms were looking pretty glittery after all those swatches.

Anyway, I always seem to get Notoriously Morbid’s Vanishing Cabinet later in the month and I have to make myself not peak at other people’s reviews, because I like the surprise. However, every month it seems it’s completely worth the wait, because I’ve been super pleased with every VC I’ve gotten from them.

The Vanishing Cabinet costs about $13 a month, and it is a reoccurring subscription. Unfortunately, at this time there is a wait list. However, I believe the Notoriously Morbid owners are going to be opening more spots next month. These ladies have a good thing going on, so I’m not at all surprised by the popularity the Vanishing Cabinet has gained. They usually do have overstocks of some of their VC eye shadows for sale on their website, if you really need to get your hands on a shade.

This month the theme was DeadLove, based on the Sookie Stackhouse books. (Not the show, bless those NM ladies.) I happened to start reading these books when I was but a young, nerdy girl of 15, and they hold a special place in my heart making this months’ VC even more fun.

If you’re curious what kind of items come each month or you just want to drool over some shimmery, gorgeous eye shadow, OR you want to know my opinions on Sookie’s boyfriends, look no further!

Why yes, that is my 2001 copy of the first Sookie book. I'm a nerd, friends.

sixteen 92: Chocolate Bar Collection

Hey friends!

Hope you had a great weekend! On Saturday, I passed my pre-test for my certification/licensure test! (It’s actually kind of anti-climatic, because now I just have permission to take the actual test that counts. Yay?)

Then a friend was in town and I got to have beer flights. So I consider it a successful weekend.

Today I’m kicking off the week with sixteen92’s Chocolate Bar Collection. Yes, an indie perfume company made a perfume collection based on hot chocolate. And yes, it’s amazing.

sixteen92 also has a Winter Collection, that I’ll be reviewing in the next week, (presumably), but I had to start with the Chocolate Bar collection. Because it’s the Chocolate Bar collection. I don’t feel like we need anymore explanations about why it’s awesome.

The sample size set of this cost about $22 with shipping. I ordered it Nov. 7, it shipped Nov. 10, and I was covered in hot chocolate scents on Nov. 13. Pretty impressed with this turn around time!

Grab yourself some sugar and read on!

Rainbow Honey Mystery Bag: November 2014

Hey friends!

I got my Rainbow Honey bag in last week and I’ve been testing it out for awhile now, really researching the products and all. (AKA not finding time to write this review, oops).

For those of you who are new to Rainbow Honey, they’re a nail polish company that offers a monthly mystery bag filled with goodies. There’s a full size and mini size, which I get for about $13. It usually proves to be a great deal for the money as I get a lot of good nail products for cheaper than I would have paid in the store. Plus there’s almost always glitter.

This month they had a theme of taking care of your skin in the winter time, which I think most people can appreciate. It’s unseasonably cold where I live and my body is falling apart, so this bag has been pretty timely for me.

So check out what I got this month:

I think I’m digging the new wrapping, it does look a bit sleeker.

Fortune Cookie Soap Box: Winter 2014

Hey friends!

Look what else came in the mail? The Fortune Cookie Soap Box!

I told you, I am having the best mail week ever! (Also I just finished Ch. 4 of my thesis, so there was lotsss of procrastination happening these past few days.)

This is only my second FCS Box, and I was excited to try their Winter scents, as well as try some new products. I was also tickled with their National Lampoon Christmas Vacation themed box. Really, who doesn’t love that movie? It’s a classic. At least in my family.

The FCS Box is $19.99 and quarterly, so it only happens 4 times a year. (This is how I justify keeping it around, because I’m pretty sure my monthly box bill is getting close to my monthly tuition bill. Ha. Just kidding. Tuition always wins…boo.)

Anyway, if you’re considering signing up for the next FCS box, which will be Spring, check out the kind of products you might find below! (And check out my Fall Box review here).

I'm surprised I'm not a member of a Jelly of the Month club with the way I'm obsessed with monthly subscriptions.

Haus of Gloi: Yule Collection

Hey friends!

How was your weekend?

Mine had some ups and downs. The highs: I ate French fries and got a new haircut. The lows: I had to spend the weekend writing the data analysis chapter of my thesis.

In fact, this post is being written as I take a break from analyzing data. (Did you know, one pro of qualitative research is you get to use different color highlighters? Just thought I would share that, if you were considering grad school.)

Anyway, it’s time to analyze some real data. Like, how are the Haus of Gloi Yule scents? Well, I can answer this research question below!

Oh, and in case you missed it, I reviewed their Autumn Collection last week here. Because I am ON IT, friends.

Hello Waffle Cosmetics: Part 1

Hey Friends!

So wayyyyy back in August I placed an order with Hello Waffle, and I got the Blogger pack, which has a lovely little discount.

However, I never reviewed it because I immediately realized that I had picked like 5989 purples and my compulsion to have complete sets kicked in.* I knew I was going to have to place an order to get a more varied sampling of Hello Waffle’s shades.

Well, guilt alleviated, I just ordered a ton of eye shadow samples and her Cattsic Literature collection, and it’s been shipped so AIYEEEE.  Now that I know I can properly review her shade selection, I’m going to go ahead and share the first part of my haul.

*All of this is a ruse just to buy more Hello Waffle because she is the bomb.com.

Notoriously Morbid’s Vanishing Cabinet: October 2014

Hey friends!

Just in time for Halloween, my Notoriously Morbid Vanishing Cabinet showed up last week! I was already impressed with their September subscription, (which you can check out here), and I just keep getting more pleased with this subscription.

First of all, these eye shadows are amazing and so are the extra lip products that seem to be included in each subscription. Second, there’s a theme each month-and I love me a good theme. Third, it’s $12.90 a month, which is not bad for all the product you get!

There is a wait list at this moment for the subscription, but I would follow Notoriously Morbid on Facebook for more info on any openings.

Anyway, if you’re interested in what comes in one of these little dudes, check out this month’s Walking Dead themed bag!

I've been waiting for a chance to use that font.

Rainbow Honey Mystery Bag: October 2014

Hey friends!

Taking a little paper writing break here, because I had to share my Rainbow Honey Mystery Bag, (mini size, $12), from this month.

It was very good! It made me re-affirm that this is a subscription I will be keeping around. (Some have been on the chopping block as I start to save up money for Christmas gifts, but RH-you’re safe.)

Also as you guys know, I’ve kinda been in a grad school funk lately, so receiving a great package always lifts my mood. (So does buying lots of makeup-but I’m sticking to my budget!) And this Rainbow Honey delivery made me smile and sniff everything.

Okay, I will stop rambling, and share the goods:
