Fortune Cookie Soap Box: Winter 2014

Hey friends!

Look what else came in the mail? The Fortune Cookie Soap Box!

I told you, I am having the best mail week ever! (Also I just finished Ch. 4 of my thesis, so there was lotsss of procrastination happening these past few days.)

This is only my second FCS Box, and I was excited to try their Winter scents, as well as try some new products. I was also tickled with their National Lampoon Christmas Vacation themed box. Really, who doesn’t love that movie? It’s a classic. At least in my family.

The FCS Box is $19.99 and quarterly, so it only happens 4 times a year. (This is how I justify keeping it around, because I’m pretty sure my monthly box bill is getting close to my monthly tuition bill. Ha. Just kidding. Tuition always wins…boo.)

Anyway, if you’re considering signing up for the next FCS box, which will be Spring, check out the kind of products you might find below! (And check out my Fall Box review here).

I'm surprised I'm not a member of a Jelly of the Month club with the way I'm obsessed with monthly subscriptions.

Pampering On a Budget

Hey friends!

I got a message from this universe this past weekend when I got sick (for the third weekend since school/work started again), and it was, “SLOW DOWN AND SLEEP 13+ HOURS”. So I did. And hello! I feel like a person again!

So if you are also finding yourself spread in 67 different directions and injecting espresso into your veins, (ok, it wasn’t that bad, but I was relying on a steady stream of caffeine to exist), then I urge you to take some time for yourself this week.

Maybe just an hour, maybe a whole day. But I feel like in our culture that rewards and encourages busyness and perpetual motion, (for more on the glorification of busyness, check out this article and this one) sometimes it’s awesome to do absolutely nothing.

And I can help you with that! Here are some of my favorite budget products to indulge in when I want to take some time to pamper myself.

Best Drugstore Face Products

Hello Beauties!

As I was working on my drugstore blush post last week, (AKA looking like I had been attacked by a Blush Swatch Monster) I started thinking it might be helpful to also share the best drugstore foundations, concealers, and powders. I mean, what’s the point of blush if the rest of you is looking rough?

If you asked me what makeup product I could never give up, I would definitely say concealer and foundation. And lipstick. And mascara. And shimmery eye shadows.

So if you are also addicted to getting that flawless face, read on!

Disclosure: I don’t get paid to do any of these reviews. These products are bought with my sad grad school funds and opinions are my own!
