Hello beauties!
The cheap theme of the week is Favorite Drugstore Lip Products! We’re going to take a look at 3 of my favorite lip products, in 4 versatile colors. I’ll also share some tips on how to score these products for cheap.
So, first a disclaimer. When I choose a lip product I’m looking for something that is:
1. Long wearing
2. Low maintenance (i.e. I don’t have to worry that it’s fading into looking like I’m only wearing lip liner)
3. Pigmented
4. Non-drying
5. Not light pink or light nude, because it does not show up on my lips and/or zombies me out.
(I’m picky, what can I say?)
Since I work full time and go to grad school part time, I have some long days. I need a lip product that I can throw on and not worry about. In my work day there’s also not any time to go reapply lipstick, (plus that is boring, who wants to do that all the time?) so that’s why the above criteria is important to me.
That being said, I take you to the first lip product of the week:
Rimmel Show off Lip Lacquer/ Apocalips/ Whatever Additional Name They Come Up With
The best way I can describe these bad boys is “liquid lipstick”. They have the pigment of a lipstick, but also a bit of shine. They also apply with an applicator.
The reason I like these guys is because they last a LONG time on me. Which is unheard of. I guess I lick my lips/drink a lot/ talk a lot/eat an ungodly amount of food because lipstick DOES NOT LAST on me. However, I can get at least 1- 2 hours with the Rimmel Show-Off Lip Lacquers.
I also like how pigmented and low maintenance they are. I can throw it on and forget about it. And while I wouldn’t say they’re moisturizing, I also haven’t had a problem with my lips being sucked dry by them.
Many internet friends will tell you they don’t like these because they transfer easily. I will grant that’s true, but it’s a price I don’t mind paying for pigmented lip color that lasts.
Oh, and speaking of price? $4.99 at my local Walgreens and Target. $5.68 at my CVS. (Avoid CVS apparently?) Not too bad for a beer budget.
So, without further ado, here are my four favorite shades in the line. I picked 2 work friendly colors, and 2 fun colors that I would wear in my spare time. I’m also I am vampire, so please don’t worry about my pale skin. It’s just how vampires do.
PS: These lip products also smell like melons of some sort? I hate melons, but I can forgive this because I like cheap lip products.
So stay tuned this week for more drugstore favorite lip products!
Question/s of the Day:
1. What do you think about the Rimmel Show Off Lip Lacquers/Apocalips/ Choose Your Own Name?
2. Do you have any lip colors you avoid because they make you look like a zombie/ some other terrifying creature?
3. What’s your favorite drugstore lip product?
Love,
Rebs!
