Rainbow Honey: August 2014 Mystery Bag

If you’re looking for this week’s Happy Hour post, never fear, I’m moving this series to Friday, and there will be a new post tomorrow to end the week!

Hello Beauties!

One of my favorite subscriptions arrived this week! Rainbow Honey is an indie beauty company that truly understands my inner desire for more glitter. They also make some fabulous perfumes and personal care items.

I get the Mini-Mystery Bag for $12.50 a month, which is a great deal for everything that’s inside. Check out what I got this month!

I ripped into this bag about 5 seconds after taking the picture.

Rainbow Honey August

Modern Hearts, 488nm, and Royal Fruits Scented Top Coat

2 coats of 488nm and 4 coats of Modern Hearts swatched on my fingers. Sorry for the messy mani.

The polishes were an interesting mix of textures this month. My only minor complaint is we have gotten a lot of pinks in the last few bags. For the Fall months, I would love to see some purples, greens, etc.

Despite this, I, naturally, was immediately drawn to Modern Hearts because of the pink and neon glitters. The description says there is a shimmery base, but this seems more like a topper to me, than an actual polish color. I’m planning to wear it back to grad school next week as an accent nail. It’s professional. Really.

Modern Hearts did seem very similar to Neon Blossom from May’s Mystery Bag. But can one ever have too much neon glitter? Answer: No, I can not.

488nm is a blue creme, my first creme from Rainbow Honey actually. The formula is easy to apply, and the blue is a nice color.

And I was very excited about the Scented Top Coat, I threw it on over my impromptu terrible manicure. My nails dried quickly and they smelled so much nicer than my normal top coat. Though Protip: Maybe don’t inhale nail polish products? I don’t know?

Royal Fruits Parfum Rollerball and Royal Fruits Cuticle Balm

Royal Fruits Parfum Rollerball and Royal Fruits Cuticle Balm

I love Rainbow Honey’s Cuticle Balm and it really does wonders for my poor cuticles who I am constantly attacking. The Royal Fruit sent reminds me of a melon fruit salad, so it’s pretty delicious.

My only minor, nitpicky comment here is this is my third Cuticle Balm since May. At this rate I’m going to have a different scent for each finger. (Hey, maybe that’s actually a good thing?)

Their Eau de Parfum Rollerballs however? Keep them coming! I really like Rainbow Honey’s fruity scents, and Royal Fruits is no exception. I also love the design for the roller ball, it’s super easy to apply.

Summer Juice Body Spray

Summer Juice Body Spray

I’ve never gotten a Body Splash from Rainbow Honey before, but at this rate, I am going to be the nicest smelling person in a 50 mile vicinity. I loved Summer Juice from the June Bag, so I was pretty excited to see it again.

Although, I still can’t get over the name. Summer Juice. Nope. No. Not a fan of that name. Doesn’t seem right. Sorry.

Conclusion

I am hoping the upcoming fall bags will have some different colors and products but overall, I think this subscription is a good value for the money.

I mean, life is too short to not have all the glitter you want.

Questions of the Day:

-What did you think of Rainbow Honey’s Bag this month?
-What colors would you like to see in upcoming bags?
-Can one have enough glitter?

Love,

Rebs!

    • I think they are all great, too! I just was hoping for some new colors in this bag. (We’ve had a lot of pinks lately.) There’s nothing wrong with their quality though, and I will be wearing them soon!

And I loveeee that scented top coat. First time trying one, and not only is my polish lasting pretty well, it also smelled so nice. I might need more scented top coats in my life!

  1. I’d never tried Rainbow Honey until this month. Someone sent me three minis in a swap and I love them. I subscribed to Julep in the past and hated it. I think this might be a sub I would really enjoy.

    • I really like Rainbow Honey, I feel like I get way more for 12.50 in their mini bag than I did with Julep for $20. (I just cancelled with them recently.)

If you love glitters and fun top coats, that seems to be their specialty in terms of polish. I like their cuticle balms and perfumes too.

I’m just ready for them to put out some new colors and scents in the mystery bag, it’s time for some fall themed ones I think!
