Ugh. Last night, I accepted the fact that I would not be getting caught up on the blog this week. I came home late from a Christmas party, and realized I did not have enough energy to take a shower, let alone write about how wonderful some of my new perfumes smell. (I should just shower with perfumes, and save myself some time and effort.)
Alas, this weekend will be filled with blog posts. Be on the look out for Rainbow Honey, the Glamour Dolls OTM, and more indie advent calendar!
Anyway, since I missed yesterday, I decided to combine Day 17 and Day 18, which was nice little haul of Glamour Doll Eyes, BPAL, and more! Spoiler Alert: I found out some of what was in that Solstice Scents package from the other day.
So check it out!
Day 17: Glamour Doll Eyes’ Peach is the New Blush (sample size, $2.50) and Solstice Scents’ Heat of the Night (3 samples for $7.50).
Glamour Doll Eyes’ Peach is the New Blush:is a light peach with a peachy low sheen glow.
I was afraid this would be too orange on me, but it’s actually a very flattering and natural shade on my warm skin tones. Very pretty, and I can especially see it working in summer months when I get a bit tanner.
Solstice Scents’ The Heat of the Night-Vanilla, Mango, Coconut, Orange, Sandalwood, Amber, Orange Blossom, Edge of the Night Base
Mr. Danger “picked” this scent. (I say “picked” as in, I think he forgot to choose a free sample, and this perfume might have just gotten thrown in).
Heat of the Night comes from their “The Night Collection” which are a set of perfumes inspired by dark and sensual scents. Since I got into indie perfumes during the fall, I don’t have a lot of these kinds of perfume notes. (However, I have a ton of pumpkin!) So, this is actually a nice change for me!
At first this perfume is definitely very citrus-y and a bit spicy. It eventually mellows out into a clean, mellow sultry scent. By that I mean, although it smells a bit powdery and vanilla on my skin, there are also some darker notes, (I think that’s the sandalwood?) that make me think it would be great for wearing out at night.
Day 18: Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab’s Snake Oil (sample size, $4) and Solstice Scents’ Nag Champa (3 samples for $7.50).
BPAL’s Snake Oil-By far, our most popular scent! Magnetic, mysterious, and exceedingly sexual in nature. A blend of exotic Indonesian oils sugared with vanilla.
Back in October, when I placed this order, I figured I had to try BPAL’s “most popular scent”. How could I resist a perfume that is described as “exceedingly sexual in nature”. Is that a good thing? I wanted to find out!
Well, it starts out pretty non-sexual to me. To be honest, I was a little bored at first, it smelled like just another incense scent. However, as it sat on my skin, it did get better. (I guess that’s it getting exceedingly sexual). It kinda smells like a great drive bar and I mean that in the best way. It’s sweet and smokey, and a bit musty, like there’s some patchouli in there. Very interesting, sultry, and a bit comforting. I can see why it’s popular.
Solstice Scents’ Nag Champa- An Exotic Incensey Blend of Champa Flowers, Vanilla, Jasmine & Spices
The Solstice Scents Mystery Package continues. Mr. Danger ordered this one, and again, this seems like an odd choice for him. Very curious…
When I think of Nag Champa, I think of incense. Sure enough, there is nothing wrong with this scent, but it does indeed, smell like incense. Really good incense, though! It’s a great blend of clean, fresh, and floral notes, and it’s not overpowering at all. In fact, it reminds me of this awesome tea shop I used to go to in college where they always had a stick of lovely incense burning. If you love Nag Champa, you’ll love this.
That’s it for today, I’ll be back tomorrow come Christmas parties or high water!
Questions of the Day:
-How are you handling the holiday season?
-Wow, I smell sexy with all three of these perfumes on at the same time. Do you have a favorite sexy scent?
