EOTD/BOTD: Shiro’s I Tried

Hey friends!

How’s your week going?

I’m trying this whole, “Go to bed on time and actually ger more than 5 hours of sleep” thing, and it is hard! How about you guys, are you sticking to your New Years Resolutions?

Just in case all your resolutions have already fell by the wayside, today’s Eye of the Day uses Shiro’s January 2014 COTM, “I Tried”. Because we did! And that’s what counts. I think.

As for my beers this week, I’m definitely feeling a lighter mood and switching it up from my typical stouts and porters.

So check it out!

(PS: I did get brave and start posting some looks on Instagram, and I’m also participating in the #Januarymakeupchallenge, so feel free to say hi @BeautyonaBeerBudget!)

Eye of the Day: Shiro’s I Tried, ($6) and Wet n’ Wild’s Comfort Zone Palette, ($8).

I Tried is described as a rose gold, although on my it comes out a bit more shimmery peach/orange, but I still think it’s a lovely color.

This EOTD is perfect for a Monday or any other day when you don’t particularly want to try. It’s my lazy day look that requires no thinking. I replace the “Eyelid” color in the Comfort Zone Palette with Shiro’s I Tried, and done. I tried.

Easy, cheesy, peasy.

Beer of the Day: Samuel Smith’s Winter Welcome

IMG_0719

As I huge fan of Mr. Smith’s Chocolate Stout and Oatmeal Stout, I felt compelled to try his Winter Welcome. Here’s what the website had to say:

This seasonal beer is a limited edition brewed for the short days and long nights of winter. The full body resulting from fermentation in ‘stone Yorkshire squares’ and the luxurious malt character, which will appeal to a broad range of drinkers, is balanced against whole-dried Fuggle and Golding hops with nuances and complexities that should be contemplated before an open fire.

If you’re a newbie to craft beers this probably means very little to you. So TL;DR: This is a lighter winter beer to drink by a fire.

In my opinion, this really is a light beer, almost too light for me. It’s got a crisp, refreshing taste though, with a nice medium body. The flavor is smooth with caramel, toffee, and evergreen resin notes at the finish. It will also only set you back by a ABV of 6%, so I don’t know how warm that will actually get you. (Yo, enjoy responsibly) I think this might be a great beginner craft beer, but for me it’s just a little bit meh. Nothing too fancy, but not bad either.

3/5 on the Rebs’ Rating Scale

Questions of the Day:
-How are your New Years Resolutions going?
-Do you have a lazy day look?
-Have you tried Samuel Smith’s Winter Welcome?

Love,

Rebs!

  1. My New Year’s Resolutions are going great! My main one is yoga daily. I’ve only missed a day, and one of my other resolutions was to “take it one day at a time” and not give up if I slip. So yeah! One that’s not going so well: taking my pup on longer walks. Polar vortex to blame for that one.

My lazy day makeup is none, ha. Just moisturizer or BB cream. Today’s a snow day so I’m just snuggled inside, bare faced.

I have that WnW and haven’t used it yet. I can’t wait to try it! I got it for free through couponing.

    • Hey, that’s awesome to hear! I always try to remember with New Years Resolutions that I’m trying to create a habit, and one day or two days won’t set me back. (She says as she stays up late again). And it’s not even snowing where I live and I’ve been too cold to take my dog out, so I think we all get a pass there!

The WnW palettes are a great deal for the price and perfect for laziness because it’s all laid out and labeled. No thinking required! My lazy looks are, “Throw on this indie shade, put WnW in the crease. DONE.”

      Keep on rocking those resolutions!
