Hey friends!
We made it to Friday!
I also made it through my first week of classes as a “non-degree seeking student” AKA the person who should probably leave grad school, but is still there. (*I graduated in December, but I’m pursuing additional courses for licensure/certification in my career. Someday I’ll leave. Someday.)
Anyways, Mr. Danger and I are supposed to be celebrating the fact that I passed my certification test/graduated/started new classes tonight, but all I want is macaroni and cheese. I’ll report back on how our adventures go.
In the meantime, let’s enjoy this Happy Hour post, because it’s the weekend, and some of us even have a 3 day weekend! (ME! ME ME ME!!!!) Today I decided to share my current Holy Grail Blush, Hello Waffle’s Junebug, with you guys because it’s affordable, it’s indie, and it makes me think of Spring. In that same dream of sunshine and warmer weather, I’ve also got Harpoon’s The Long Winter Thaw White IPA. I know it’s a little early to be thinking of Spring, but I am tired of rain and cold where I live!
So let’s kick off Happy Hour!
Makeup Product of the Week Past 4 Months: Hello Waffle’s June Bug Blush
June Bug Blush: Warm orange-coral with the subtlest amount of blue/green glow. ($2-$9 USD)
So I asked for a sample of this blush as my GWP wayyyyy back in October when I made a mini Hello Waffle haul and some how I ended up with a full size jar. No really, it just showed up in my package. (!!) Christine of Hello Waffle is the bee’s knees and super generous, this is the only explanation I have.
I never would have thought I’d be a fan of orange-coral blush, and honestly, I don’t even know if the makeup experts of the world would say I should be wearing that color. But I don’t care. I love it.
June Bug looks like a beautiful warm flush of color on my cheeks. The blush creates a lovely natural glow on my skin, and it’s very easy to blend. Although I have warm tones in my skin, I’ve seen this blush on ladies with cool skin, and it was equally pretty. A little bit goes a long way, as it’s very pigmented, and I apply it on top of a face primer so it lasts longer.
All in all, if you’ve been considering trying out an indie company, order from Hello Waffle and get this blush. You will not be disappointed.
Beer of the Week: Harpoon’s The Long Thaw White Ale
I love me a stout and a porter, but this week I needed a bit of a break from dark beers. Given how tired I am of cold, rainy weather, I really liked the label and name of this beer. I don’t buy much Harpoon, but they surprised me with this one.
Apparently I was totally in the mood for a White IPA because this beer hit the spot for me. The taste is citrus, mostly orange, with a finish of mild hops and coriander. It’s bitter, but not overpowering. I find it crisp and refreshing, and overall, a pleasant beer to sip on. White IPAs are always delicious with spicy foods, so I recommend pairing this with your favorite Mexican or Thai food. (Eat all of the queso!)
On another note: Mr. Danger, actually really dislikes this beer, as he is not a fan of the coriander in it. I wanted to mention this because if you also hate coriander, maybe skip this beer. He likes to put an orange slice in the beer to mellow the bitterness, but consider yourself warned. (Although he still drank 3 of our 6 pack. So it only really slowed him down a little bit.)
So that’s it for today.
I will be posting this weekend, I’m going to try out Subscription Saturday, (and Sunday, this weekend!) to share my subscription reviews there. I’m just having a hard time getting the swatches done during my work week, especially with class two nights a week. I’m hoping by moving these posts to the weekend, I’ll get them out a bit faster.
Stick around tomorrow, is what I’m saying!
And for next week, I’ve got Rainbow Honey, Black Violet, and more coming up on the blog.
See you all then! Have a great weekend!
Love,
Rebs!
