Subscription Saturday: Glamour Doll Eyes’ OTM- January 2015

Hey friends!

In an effort to make my life easier, I’m going to try out moving most of my makeup subscription reviews to Saturday/Sunday.

Given that I work full time (and then some), and on Mondays and Wednesdays I go to grad school until 8:30, I’m just not having a great deal of time to swatch. I think Subscription Saturday will allow me to have the quality posts I want, and not pull all of my hair out by the time I’m 30!

So today, we’re checking out the first Glamour Doll Eyes’ OTM of 2015!

The Glamour Doll Eyes’ subscription comes in installments of 1,2,3, 6, and 12 month, (although 12 is all sold out), and is $10 a month.

February OTM recipients will be chosen based on a lottery system. January OTM’s going live was a hot mess and broke the internet, so Vee, (the owner), will be trying out this new system for the time being. That means if you’re interested in trying out the OTM, you don’t have to stalk the website, you just have to put your name in the hat! One month subscriptions and the Eye Shadow of the Month will still be available for purchase if you’re not feeling like gambling that month.

I was one of the people that a hot mess descended on. I had a 12 month subscription in my cart and then the internet broke forevers. At the end of the day, I was lucky enough to get a 2 month. I was a little bummed, but in the grand scheme of things, eye shadow is not do or die for me. And I have two months to review for you guys, then we can test my luck in the lottery system!

Enough information, let’s look at the glitter.

Also the info card for this month was very cute.

IMG_0789This month a new feature called Try More Indies, or TMI, was introduced on the info card. Each month a new code will be shared for a discount at an indie company. I think this is an awesome and budget friendly way to get more exposure to indies. This month is Baroque Cosmetics, and I’m already making plans to try them after my low-buy ends.

Eyeshadow of the Month: Be My Anchor-A sheer flash of sparkling blue like water with a dusty golden base

glamour doll eyes be my anchor

glamour doll eyes be my anchorI’ve gotten a couple of OTMs now, (and a ton of GDE’s regular catalog), and this is probably my favorite OTM shade yet. It’s a beautiful neutral, but the blue keeps it from being boring. It’s subtle enough that I can wear to work, but it can also be glammed up. I’m pretty much in love.

Sailing Away- Much like the deep blue sea, this cream shadow color is very deceiving. In the jar it looks coral reef blue, but once applied it becomes much more complex. We have a deep royal blue base with a soft coral reef blue overlay. It is finished off with an anchor golden shimmer sheen.

This cream shadow was fairly easy to apply, it took a couple of layers to get the swatch filled in, but I doubt I’ll ever be smearing it on my eyelids like that, so it’s all good. This is definitely a deeper blue than I expected, but I do love the subtle sparkles in it. Not an everyday shade for me, but still very lovely.

Bonus Sample: Pass the Bubbly is a beautiful golden rose color with a lovely golden overlay.

The magical powers of the indie universe dictated that I got a sample of one of the customer appreciation shades I’m most interested in. (The others being Urban Mannequin and Sooo Shakey). The powers worked because this is a beautiful golden pink, and I’m such a sucker for these kinds of colors. Pass the Bubbly, I’ll be seeing you in February.

And let’s look at these bad boys in direct sunlight. Look at that sparkle. Alllllll that sparkle.

Aquabomb Atomic Astrid- A coral colored aqua bomb that is blackberry pomegranate flavored. This balm will give you the perfect punch to your pucker.

I do like the formula of this, it smells nice and it left a really pretty pink stain that lasted through eating and drinking. Hopefully, my little Aquabomb will have better luck shipping, because it seems like a really decent product.

atomic astrid lipOverall: I thought this was a pretty good month.  I wish my Aquabomb had been more usable, but the formula is still very good, so that’s not really a deal breaker for me. I’m absolutely in love with Be My Anchor, that alone was worth the money to me.

Next month’s theme is “Any Excuse for Chocolate” which sounds pretty promising!

See you tomorrow for Subscription Sunday! I’ve got some more pretty blues and corals to share with you!

Questions of the Day:
-What did you think of this month’s OTM?
-Were you part of the Glamour Doll Eyes Internet Breaking of 2015?
-Will you try your luck in the lottery?

Love,

Rebs

PS: Did you guys notice I swatched with tape this time? I hate the feeling of sticky things, (I’m a little weird,yo), and I’ve been avoiding tape this whole time, but even I have to admit that it looks better. Beauty is pain, I guess!
