How did your week go? Mine was full of naps. Yep.
For Happy Hour this week, I’m sharing 5 of NYX’s new Intense Butter Lipglosses! I’ve had my eye on these babies from the moment I saw their vivid swatches on Instagram. It was love at first sight. And I’m happy to report, our love story is going strong, because they’re a pretty awesome, cheap product.
And for my third Beer I Love, I’ve got, yes, another dark beer. But it’s Lagunitas Cappuccino Stout. It tastes like coffee! You’ll try it and forgive me for featuring another dark beer. (Which, I promise won’t happen next week.)
So let’s start Happy Hour!
Please enjoy your makeup and beers responsibly.
Makeup Product of the Week: NYX Intense Butter Lip Gloss ($6).
NYX is my Holy Grail Company for lip products. Very rarely have I been disappointed in a lip gloss or lipstick from them. They have great formulas and fabulous prices.
I have been so excited to try these Intense Butter Lipglosses, as they looked like a fairly good dupe for Too Faced’s Melted Lipsticks, which I like, but I don’t feel the need to buy as they’re $21 each, (see above paragraph. And the title of this blog.)
Ulta was having a Buy One Get One Half Off sale on NYX items, (as they routinely do, just keep your eyes open), and I ordered these online for roughly the same price of one Too Faced Melted Lipstick.
Anyway, this formula is truly intense. The color is extremely pigmented and super glossy. Like you are not going to find these colors in nature, they are vivid, and incredibly slick and shiny.
While the lipgloss is comfortable to wear, it’s also pretty long lasting. My lips remained fairly pigmented and glossy even while drinking and eating. I was impressed with the longevity.
The applicator is also interesting. It’s a wand, but the end is flexible and more rectangular than doe shaped:
As for the colors, there’s 12 shades ranging from light pinks to vivacious purples. I picked up 5 of the darker colors that I thought I might actually get some mileage out of.
Napoleon-bright tea rose pink
Napoleon is a really intense Barbie pink, but it’s a fun color. This was the only Intense Butter Lip Gloss that the formula was kinda feathery on. It wasn’t too noticeable, though. unless you were really close to my mouth taking pictures.
Toasted Marshmallow- Mauve purple
Apple Crisp-True red with blue undertone
Chocolate Crepe-Deep beige
Before I realized how pigmented and glossy these were, I was hoping Chocolate Crepe would be a MLBB shade. Though it doesn’t fill that requirement, it’s a nice light brown-mauve gloss shade. The professional shade of the bunch.
Spice Cake- Deep plum
I’m so loving the Intense Butter Lipglosses. Between the formula, pigmentation, and price, I feel like these are such a steal. Too Faced who?
Beer of the Week: Lagunitas Cappuccino Stout
There are a lot of coffee beers out there, but few are as perfectly balanced and tasty as Lagunitas Cappuccino stout. I find many coffee beers are a bit bitter, but this is an earthy, slightly sweet beer with a strong, but not overwhelming coffee flavor. I also get some chocolate and malt notes, with just a hint of lactose in the mix that balances well with the coffee notes.
It’s that perfect balance that makes this beer for me. It’s fantastic for sipping after dinner, or just enjoying on a cold night. Although it’s a dark beer, it’s so smooth, you can barely taste that it’s got a 9.2% ABV. So sip carefully, friends!
Enjoy your Friday, friends!
