I’m going to keep this short and sweet because I’m falling asleep sitting up. It’s been one of those weeks/months.

Eye of the Day: Dawn Eyes’ Wisteria, Magic Violet and Sweet Pea

You may not believe this, (because I’m a pretty loyal fan girl), but I branched out and tried a new-to-me indie company: Dawn Eyes! Shipping was super fast and I’m loving the samples I got from the Nature’s Sinful Delight Collection. Dawn Eyes=so far, so good! I plan to try a few more looks from this Springy collection in the upcoming weeks because these are some really pretty pastels and floral colors.

For today’s Springy look I put Magic Violet in the inner corner, Wisteria on the lid, and I foiled Sweet Pea as an eyeliner, (I went a little too thick near my tear duct, but oh well). I also used some mattes from Too Faced’s Chocolate Bar Palette in the crease. I feel like my eye looks like a flower now, which I’m pretty pleased with.

Beer of the Day: Smuttynose Durty

Smuttynose Says: Brown and hoppy; hoppy and brown – a rare pairing. But that’s the best way to describe Durty, Smuttynose Brewing Company’s new “mud season” ale. Take the caramelly notes of a brown ale, pair them with the hop aroma and flavor of a double IPA, and you’re right in this beer’s wheelhouse.

Rebs Says: I was not expecting to love this as much as I do! First, I am not afraid of hops, and lately I’ve been in a hops mood-just a disclaimer. That being said, this is hop heaven. Durty is a deliciously balanced beer, perfectly combining brown ale with hops. It has flavors of coffee, chocolate and roasted malt. The flavors are rich, but the beer is not too heavy or dark, instead the hops give it a kick in the pants (speaking of kick in the pants, it’s also 8.7% ABV). I think it’s perfect for drinking on those April shower days.

In fact, it’s the first 6 pack of any beer the Danger Family has bought in a long time. So that’s a compliment to Smuttynose, indeed!
