Subscription Saturday: Kiss My Sass Lip Addicts Anonymous-May 2015

Hey friends!

I have a new subscription to share with you today, Kiss My Sass’ Lip Addicts Anonymous! I justified trying out this subscription by telling myself that I don’t have any indie lip product subscriptions yet. And its for science. Mr. Danger and the United States Postal Service are judging me. though.

Anyway, check out the subscription and let me know what you think!

Kiss my Sass Lip Addicts May 2015

Informational Stuff: I’ve tried a few of Kiss My Sass’ lip products in other subscriptions, and I really like them, so when I saw a box was being offered I was interested. I waffled back and forth on if I wanted to sign up for this, (I’m kinda on subscription overload, and I’m super picky about lipstick color), but at only $8 (+2 for shipping) a month, I figured I could at least try it for a few months. For research. And science. You know.

So every month in this subscription we’ll be getting: a full size lip product, cosmetics samples, bath and body samples, and a coupon. Considering the full size lip products are $8 I figured this was a pretty good deal.

I signed up for the subscription on May 1, it shipped on May 4th, and it arrived at my house on May 8th, so it was a quick process. Everything was inside a bubble mailer, and then in a cute leopard print paper bag, (that I promptly ripped, which is why you are not seeing it. Good job me!)

If you like what you see here today, openings for Lip Addicts Anonymous will be available on June 2nd on the Kiss My Sass website.

Good Stuff: There doesn’t appear to be a theme for this month, but we did get a tiny info card about the products and prices.

Lip Glaze in Hypnotic, Retail $8

Kiss My Sass Hypnotic Lip Glaze

2 layers on swatch

There’s not a description for this on the card, but the Kiss my Sass Lip Glazes to me are kinda like a cross between a lip gloss and a lipstick. They’re fairly pigmented (unless you get the Sheer ones!) glossy, but not to sticky, and last quite awhile. Hypnotic is an exclusive color to this subscription apparently, and I really like it. It looks like the perfect berry shade for summer, bright fuchsia, with a bit of a blue tint. I don’t like a lot of lipsticks that have blue undertones, but this is such a fun color, I really want to rock it this summer.

I didn’t have any application issues, and was pretty happy with how buildable it was. My swatch above was with two layers, and I was happy with that amount, though I could have gone darker. All in all, I was pleased with this bright Lip Glaze.

Perfume Oil in Hypnotic, Retail $4-Comparable to: Love Spell by Victoria’s Secret (notes of orange, peach, cherry blossom, white jasmine)

IMG_4300

I don’t know what Love Spell smells like, because I’ve never been a big fan of Victoria’s Secret, but I do know I was a little disappointed to get a dupe scent in a subscription. It looks like Kiss my Sass has some original scents on the website, and I would have loved to try one of those, because I have a strange compulsion to smell all the indies.

Anyway, as scents go, it’s definitely pleasant enough. Hypnotic is light, fruity, with a bit of citrus-fizzyness. But I have so many other awesome and original indie spring/summer scents, that I’ll probably just pass this on to someone else.

Cream Eyeshadow in Sailor’s Demise, $2.50-a beautiful shimmering blue-green shade inspired by mermaids.

Kiss My Sass Sailor's Demise

I’m not always the biggest fan of cream eyeshadows, because I feel like they can be tricky to work with or too creamy, but I really like the formula of this. It’s smooth and pigmented, making it easy to apply, but it dries nicely so I don’t feel like it’s sliding around my skin.

The blue on this really does remind me of a deep turquoise ocean. Not a color I’ll use a lot, but really pretty nonetheless.

Tattoo Shop Eyeshadow, $1.50-a black base loaded with blue & violet sparkles

Top half of swatch over Too Faced Shadow Insurance, bottom half over GDE Glitter Fix

I like this shadow way more over the Glitter Fix because it becomes so purple and sparkly. Over regular primer the black base definitely comes through more. Either way, as much as I love all the purple glitter, I’m not sure I’ll get much use out of this. It’s really hard for me to use dark eye shadow shades for anything other than eye liner, so maybe I’ll end up foiling it out. That glitter though.

Overall: Kiss My Sass Lip Addicts AnnonymousI think this was a pretty good start to a new subscription. While none of the extra really worked out perfectly for me, I really did love the Lip Glaze. In fact, I liked it enough that I’ll definitely try a few more months of Lip Addicts Anonymous before I decide whether or not the subscription is really for me. In the mean time, I did receive a coupon with my subscription for 20% off the Kiss My Sass store, and I have plans to try out some of her bubble bath products. Hopefully we’ll get to see some of those products or her original scents in the upcoming months.

Questions of the Day:
-What did you think of the Kiss My Sass Lip Addicts Anonymous Subscription? (that is really long to write, I may start saying LAA. Or something. I’m lazy.)
-Do you rock black eyeshadow ever? How so?

Love,

Rebs!
