Haus of Gloi: Summer Reverie 2015-Mini Review!

Hey friends!

I’ve got a tiny review of Haus of Gloi’s Summer Reverie scents today! I’ve been on a bit of a no-buy this summer, but all the scents in this small Summer collection sounded too good not to try. I ended up getting a few sample sizes of the perfumes.

Check out what I thought!

Informational Stuff: Unfortunately, the Reverie products are all sold out at the moment. However, I decided to review this anyway because sometimes popular Reverie items are brought back into the general catalog and you also may come across them in a destash or swap. So I’m here for you.

In general, Haus of Gloi Reverie Collections are small and limited batches of perfumes and bath products. If you are interested in purchasing from a future Reverie release, I would recommend signing up for Haus of Gloi’s newsletter so you can get the dates and times and be ready for it. Because once these products are gone, they’re usually gone for good.

You can read of my Haus of Gloi reviews here.

Fun Stuff: I bought only perfume samples because I was trying to stick to my low-buy and also I’m pretty good on bath products at the moment. The Reverie products were available in Pumpkin Butters and Bubbling Scrubs, though.

Blueberry Pie-Simple! Pie crust and blueberries

When wet this smells like intense blueberries. I was really excited at first because it reminded me of Solstice Scents’ discontinued Blueberry Muffin Batter that I’m always a bit sad I missed out on. However, as it dries down the blueberry fades and it smells more like a baked good, sweet and warm. This didn’t last very long on me either, maybe 4 hours tops, before fading away to a soft vanilla scent. This is fun, but I thought SS Blueberry Muffin Batter had greater blueberry strength and lasted longer on me, so I think I prefer it over HoG’s Blueberry Pie.

Boca Chica-Rich gardenia blossom, red mandarin, coconut cream and ripe banana. This sounds super fruity, but it is surprisingly not so!

This smells straight up like coconut sunscreen. As someone who hates the smell of sunscreen, I was not a happy camper until about 30 minutes in. As this started to dry, it did become a more softer tropical smell, like pina colada sunscreen. But it still smelled like sunscreen. Naturally this lasted all day on me and had a great throw, so if you’re looking for a scent with power, this has it. It finally faded to a soft coconut smell. But dang, that sunscreen.

I believe this scent calls for this stock image of “Woman Applying Sunscreen”

Suggah-Brown sugar, lemon zest and benzoin

This is pretty much the first and only summer gourmand scent I’ve liked. When wet, it smells like very sugary lemonade, but as it dries down the brown sugar comes out and I start to smell like a light desert. Maybe like a lemon bar? Lemon scents never last very long on me, and the lemon fades pretty quickly here. However, the brown sugar scent last almost all day on me, fading away into a soft warm scent. I like this, I wish I had bought it in a Pumpkin Butter because I think it would have been a nice, light lotion scent for the summer.

Trippy Hippy- Simple yet effective, lavender, aged patchouli and vanilla.

For some reason, a lot of Haus of Gloi’s patchouli scents turn soapy on me. However, the patchouli is really strong in Trippy Hippy and it indeed smells like patchouli. Trippy Hippy is a very fitting name for this scent, because I do feel like a smell like a really nice head shop.

The lavender is also a main note in this scent, and it’s really nice, pure lavender scent. This was the reason I ordered this scent, I’m a lavender-aholic. I find it super soothing. However, I still feel like the patchouli is the strongest note here. I just a peaceful, calm hippy while wearing this.

If you like patchuloi and lavender, you’ll love this. It lasted about 6 hours on me and had great throw. If you don’t like either one of those notes, stay far, far away from Trippy Hippy.

This is what comes up when I search for hippy on my stock image sight. I assume she smells like patchouli and lavender:

Overall:haus of gloi summer reverie

I think Boca Chica, Blueberry Pie, and Suggah all probably translate better in Body Products than perfumes. That being said my favorite of the perfume oils was Suggah.

No full sizes here for me, but all had really great throw and with the exception of Blueberry Pie, lasted a really long time on me. I have to say, Haus of Gloi is still one of my favorite perfume companies to sample. I may not find a full size in a collection, but for some reason I always have the most fun trying out each scent. I don’t know if it’s because they make such a wide variety of scents or what, but I really love buying from them.

And on that note: IT’S ALMOST FALL AND I CAN NOT WAIT FOR THE FALL SCENTS.

Love,

Rebs!
