Hey friends!
Happy Sunday! I’m winding down a great weekend with the last post in my August series of Worth It Makeup Splurges. Today I’ve got my favorite expensive mascara, Too Faced’s Better Than Sex and a much cheaper, but still awesome version of Maybelline’s Lash Sensational Mascara.
And on the beer front we’re winding down summer with a blackberry sour beer, Odell’s Bromebeer Blackberry Gose. It’s a great transition from late summer to the beginning of fall.
So let’s check out this mellow Sunday Happy Hour!
Please enjoy your beer and makeup responsibly.
Makeup of the Week: Too Faced’s Better Than Sex Mascara, $23
Cheaper Mascara: Maybelline’s Lash Sensational, $7
Too Faced’s Better Than Sex Mascara is my favorite expensive mascara. I usually don’t buy mascara that costs more than $10 because I’m always getting samples, and most of the time I don’t feel like it’s worth the cost.
But I really do like Too Faced’s Better Than Sex Mascara. It’s kind of a pain to work with, I will say that, but after I’ve messed around with my eyelashes, they look awesome. This has a thick, dark formula that really coats your lashes and makes them look pinup big. It’s the best results I’ve gotten in terms of volume, and the closest I can get to falsies without actually wearing falsies.
When I don’t feel like putting effort into mascara, but I still want my eye lashes to pop, I use Maybelline’s Lash Sensational Mascara. I’ve detailed this mascara in full in this post, and it’s the closest dupe I’ve gotten to Too Faced.
Beer of the Week: Odell Brewing Company’s Brombere Blackberry Gose
I mentioned a few posts ago that I’m trying to branch out into more sour beers, (which are usually not my favorite due to their tendency to taste like chardonnay, IMO), and this Blackberry beer made it very easy.
The blackberry flavor is a perfect note of fruity and tangy without being too sweet. It balances the sour and fresh wheat flavors of the beer. There’s a bit of a citrus twist and a hint of saltiness in the finish. It’s very drinkable, a fruity, sour and fun beer that’s refreshing and mellow at the same time. I really enjoyed this combination of flavors and at this rate, I’m on my way to becoming a sour beer fan. Maybe.
That’s it for this Happy Hour!
Next Friday I’ll be kicking off my month of Oktoberfest beers! (Because Oktoberfest starts in September. I know, it’s confusing.) And tomorrow I’ve got a review of Sixteen92’s Fall Collection in time for her release at noon!
So stick around-I still exist!
Love,
Rebs!
